Fire Services Training

The Academy provides beginning, intermediate and advanced training in the dynamic field of Fire Services. We provide Fire Services training to state and local agencies utilizing the latest fire fighting equipment and training techniques. Our Fire Services experts present specialized training courses and provide assistance in career development and student internships.


Components of this program include Fire Fighter 1 Academy, Fire In-Service Training, State Fire Training Courses, and General Training Courses.

Fire Fighter Academy

The Fire Academy is a 480-hour program conducted on consecutive weekends, (9 hrs Saturday & Sunday), & 2 weeknights per month. Provides basic firefighter skills & knowledge with the emphasis on "hands on" skills development. The course conforms to the standards for certification by the State Board of Fire Services and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The 12-unit course completes the educational requirements for the Firefighter 1 certification. This course has strict standards that comply with those required of firefighters in the fire service. Grooming standards, dress codes, discipline and attitude are important standards that a firefighter must possess. Teamwork, self-confidence, self-discipline, quick thinking and the ability to follow instructions and orders accurately are emphasized in this course..

Fire In-Service

The Academy works directly with Fire Agencies to provide and support scheduled in-service training that is planned or currently being offered.

State Fire Training

The Academy can provide for and support any of the courses offered by, or through, the State Fire Training System.

General Fire Training

The Academy can support most specialized and general fire training courses agencies may wish to offer their employees.
