Law Enforcement

CIT Academy

Nov 12 2018 - Nov 15 2018

Description

CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) officers will learn about a variety of mental disorders and other disabilities, visit mental health facilities, and learn the concepts of crisis intervention while adhering to officer safety practice and policy. Officers are able to de-escalate potentially violent situations and ensure the safety and diversion of the mental health consumer to a treatment center. CIT trains law enforcement officers to become more adept at dealing with mental health consumers, the developmentally disabled and individuals in crisis. CIT is useful in domestic violence cases and in contacts with youth, elderly citizens, and people of diverse backgrounds.
